Neue Hofkapelle Graz holds a special position in the scene of historical musical performance not only in Austria. The ensemble is neither one of the usual self-managed music collectives nor the subordinate team of are nowned conductor, but rather an orchestra that fathoms baroque music from the bottom: "Maestra di cappella" Lucia Froihofer and"Maestro al cembalo" Michael Hell lead the formation in joint direction, like musicians did about 300 years ago. Well-founded knowledge about music, playing styles and instruments of past epochs is the basic prerequisite for their work, but much more important for NHG is the awareness about the function of music and the artistic desire to recall this function over and over again.
